Must Buy: The Basics
There are a few things that should be in every woman's closet and are an essential to most outfits. Here I will give you suggestions for, what I call, the staples of your closet.
1.
Sugar Lips Tanks
>>These tanks are one size fits all and they stretch like crazy! They are amazing! They come in nearly every color, but I suggest buying two in black and one in white, as everyone needs tanks to be dressed up or down. You can't go wrong with wearing black or white. Black Pumps
>>Whether at the office or going out, every woman needs a pair of basic black pumps. You should have at least one pair that is closed-toe for a more professional atmosphere, and in case you have to wear tights. I like these from DSW, available for $59.95.

Cotton Leggings
>>Black leggings are definitely a staple in my closet. Whenever I can't decide what to wear, and I still want to look cute, leggings and an oversized men's button up or tshirt seems to be my go-to look. They are also great to wear with boots, since it can be difficult to tuck in my jeans, or to wear under a dress when its extra cold out. My favorite go for $26 from American Apparel, seen here, or sold in packs of three for $63.

Basic Tshirts
>>I wear these heathered tshirts every chance I can get. Not only are they the softest things I've ever felt, but they are so versitle, I can't handle it. I recommend buying a pack of three in grey, black, and light blue at $51 for 3 at American Apparel or individually for $22. Wear it casually with jeans or leggings or under a blazer with a great chunky necklace!

Black Leotard
>>Okay, so I admit, I AM an American Apparel junkie, but what can I say? They have great cotton basics! Leotards are great because they are fitted and can be worn with jeans or high waisted skirts. This particular one isn't backless, which most others are. Backless leotards can be difficult to wear to work as they are not exactly appropriate and you can't wear a bra with them (something I need!). Leotards, as opposed to normal tshirts, will not gather, rise up, or bunch underneath your pants or skirt...a pet peeve of
mine. Get this one from American Apparel for $36.

>>Every woman needs black tights. They let you get away with so much: short skirts, unshaven legs, ghostly white skin, etc.! Buy as many pairs as possible, as I have a very bad record of ripping my tights with my fingernails. These black opaque tights are 2 for $20 at Macy's.
