This week's Links a La Mode demonstrates the one thing we fashion bloggers aren't afraid to do. Give advice. With all the shopping, hunting, reading and networking we do across a multitude of channels, it's no surprise that we develop certain skills when it comes to finding the best bargain, tracking down the ultimate vintage find or just knowing how to dress for our body type. Read up on all of this week's posts featured in Links a la Mode for a wealth of information for everything from dos and dont's to curbing those nasty little shopping habits we all can be guilty of here and there.
I was very privileged to have attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago's Annual Student Fashion Show last Thursday with my bff Elyssa Heller. The show was staged at a tent in Millenium Park in downtown Chicago and put on my sophomores, juniors, and seniors presenting their final pieces for the semester.
While the Art Institute's curriculum is known to be more avant garde and art-oriented, I can't say I was expecting some of the things that walked down the runway... Leandra Medine would be proud of these Man Repellers.
The walking yetti was my personal favorite. Menswear was equally as interesting. I just kept thinking how much these male models would probably want to be at a Bulls game right now...
Some Few were very beautiful, and perhaps more wearable:
After the show, Elyssa and I lunched at LUXBAR where the manager John came over to our table approximately four times to chat and proceeded to buy us drinks. Giggling from mojitos at only 2pm, who do I recognize enter the restaurant with giant "wish-i-owned-these-for-the-next-time-I'm-hungover" sunglasses, was Tory Burch and crew (I was glad I was dressed well that day). Apparently, according to John they are opening a new flagship store on Oak St.
That's all for now xoxo Gossip Girl Freak
